Our History
My name is Tommy Cooper and I am the owner and broker of Cooper Realty Group here in Cary, NC.
We are located in the heart of downtown Cary in the Cooper Building across from town hall and next door to the Cary Chamber of Commerce. This is the perfect location for us as it reflects the history and roots of the company in old Cary.
The Cooper family's history in Cary area realty service dates back to the late 50's and early 60's when my mother, Laurie Cooper, became one of the first Realtors in the (at that time) small yet growing town of around two thousand people. IBM was just moving in and the Research Triangle Park was growing exponentially seemingly overnight. My mother's knowledge of the market and attention to her clients made her one of the top agents in the area for over forty years (and her company's top national agent in the early 1980's). Her clientele were so loyal that she sometimes had three generations of sales within the same families.
I am a Cary native and a graduate of Cary High School and East Carolina University. For the better part of the last twenty years I have been a part-time professional musician with local and regional acts The Stegmonds and, most recently, Hank Sinatra. I have been a licensed Realtor since 1993 and worked with my mother (and other family members) until her retirement in 2000. My goal has always been to carry on the family tradition of un-paralleled service and commitment to my customers that is the heart and soul of this referral-based company.
In the past I worked for large conventional real estate conglomerates until I decided that technology (specifically the internet and cell phones) had evolved to the point that I could open up a small, localized real estate agency that specializes in the triangle area and offers the same benefits as the big companies but with better representation of our clients and the savings passed onto them and not a corporation.
At Cooper Realty Group we focus on an exclusive customer group that generally comes to us from our past customers or just good old-fashioned word-of-mouth advertising. This saves us money and allows us to pass on some of those savings to our customers in the from of variable commissions and cash-back plans, as well as allowing us to focus more intently on our customers instead of using our resources to bring in new business.
